There are many who share the same hobby, and many who put me to shame.
I'm big enough to know when I'm "out-gunned", though slow to admit it.
I thouroughly enjoy all the imput (in extreme detail) provided here.
I don't believe there is a subject or item that can't be discovered if it can be discovered by this eclectic group, concerning WWII.
I wish I knew more about didgital photography so I could take pictures from my 300+ volumes and post them for the rest to enjoy.
If you have any hints for a (unsavy) computer person in this area, please let me know.
Thanks everyone!

I have to admit that when it comes to digital photography I'm on a very steep learning curve myself at the moment....

For this what you need is a flat-bed scanner, there are a lot of them with excellent specs at very low price. Absolutely no need to go overboard with this.

See this or this

On the other hand be very very careful with the copyright issues, scanning photos from a book and putting them on the internet can have very interesting results

Can I ask you experts something? I have 35mm photos of wartime sites I visited 10-15 years ago, and I keep making a complete arse of trying to copy them with my digital camera. What's the best way of trying it, or is it just quicker/easier investing in a scanner?

I'm no expert at all!

It just happened that I stumbled upon the other day on a scanner with precisely a photo negative adapter. I saw this on Friday in Portugal and today I'm in Ireland, so I have no means of knowing now! But I suppose you should do a bit of market research and find out what these scanners are. Try the better brands, Xerox, HP, etc.
