D-Day is the accepted way of emphasising the day in question is the day the operation is to happen. It's just an emphasis of the first letter as they use H-Hour to emphasise the hour in question is the actual hour or time the action starts.

When reading through military history you'll all operations have a D-Day and H-Hour.

It stands for Day

D-Day is day one of the invasion or operation.
D+1 would be the second day of the operation.
etc

H-Hour is the first hour of the operation, H+1 is the second hour, etc

The "D" in D-Day doesnt not stand for a specific word. It stands for the day a military operation starts . A more specific example for the would be H-Hour, the eaxact hour when the military operation is scheduled to begin. Operation Overlord was sort of "christened" with the name because so many people associate D-Day with the Invasion of Normandy.

Hope i could be of help

Nothing, its a code letter.
The idea was, if the enemy came across any reference to 'D-Day' in any captured documents or the like, they would be unable (hopefully) to connect it with the Allied invasion of Europe
