Well, some days ago we had the remembrances of 'Operation Overlord' and the LX anniversary of D-day.
To-day, June 22nd 2004 it is a day full of anniversaries.
First, it is the CXCII anniversary of Napoléon's invasion to Russia.
Second, it is the LXIII anniversary of Hitler's invasion of the Soviet Union.
And third —which goes hand-to-hand with D-day— it is the LX anniversary of 'Operation Bagration', one of the greatest military operations of all times. On June 22nd 1944, on the 3rd anniversary of the German invasion, the Red Army launched an offensive against Army Group 'Centre' in Bielorrussia with more than 1,5 million men, thousands of tanks and guns that in two months kicked the Wehrmacht out of Soviet territory, reached the Vistula river, destroyed Army Group 'Centre', surrounded Army Group 'North' and isolated Army Group 'North Ukraine' and killed, wounded or captured 500.000 Germans, thus breaking the backbone of the Wehrmacht.
Think these men also deserve to be remembered.
