I am looking for contemporary songs concerning WWII events. I want to put a compilation on CD. For example: Al Stewart-Roads to Moscow
Pink Floydd- Royal Fusiliers
(from the Wall)
Johhny Horton- Sink the Bismarck
If you know others or have suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers,

Well, lessee...
There's 'Brothers in Arms' by Dire Straits. It's not specifically about WWII, though. It's kind of generic in scope, actually, but you could really apply it to most any war. Their 'Ride Across the River' is also another possibility, although it has the feel of more modern day mercenaries than those of WWII.
'For the Hand of Magdelena' by The Lowest of the Low isn't about WWII, but rather the Spanish Civil War. For me it's 'close enough', as I look at that conflict and others like the Winter War as nothing more than preambles to the big one, but you'd have to decide for yourself.
There was a song called 'Glenn Miller is Missing' by the Rock Follies. I think it was part of a musical or something. I don't know too much about it and not so interested in it to go googling...
Blue Oyster Cult did a tune called 'Me 262', but I'm not sure what that one is about...
Fade to Black...

Re: World War II songs
Daniel,
Have a look at this thread Songs of war there are references on various messages to more modern songs. Bryan Adams, Terence Kelly, and John McDermot have songs that may be relevant to your search. Good Luck.
