Cool

Hi
Does anybody know of anyone who does research into Royal Navy personel/Ships?
I have my Great Uncle's Service papers from the Royal Navy during WW2, but I don't really understand them.
I would like to know what Ships he served on and what happened to them while he was on them? Does anyone do this sort of thing?

Thanks
Matt.

there were some researchers listed on the PRO website. I don't know if they have them listed at the new site: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

If you have time, spend a day or two (seriously- you mau need to) at the Maritime Museum in Greenwich. If your uncle was an officer he will be listed in the Navy List for each appropriate year. This list also shows which ships he would have been included in the complement. If he was not an officer, he will not be in the Navy List but the museum will be able to print files for each of the ships for which you are asking for info. There may or may not be a fee depending on who you talk to and how busy they are. The library is not generally open to the public but a polite inquiry will/should get you in.

Why not list the ships (and dates) here? I am sure we can figure out which are ships and which are bases.
