In 2004, I attended the 85th Annual 3rd Infantry Division reunion here in Savannah. I got to meet many of the actual men who I portray which I must say was REALLY cool and it was a great experience. However, the most memorable quote was spoken by a veteran when I asked him a question pertaining to what he thought of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division's claim of taking credit for capturing the "Eagle's Nest" in May of 1945....
This was his quote exactly.....
"The 101st is full of s***" -I & R Company 1st Sgt. Bill Tonini, 7th U.S. Infantry Reg't., U.S. 3rd Infantry Division
Myself and one other living historian were getting autographs from all of the veterans to have something to remember the occasion by and, we had Sgt. Tonini sign that quote to the back of the 3rd Infantry Division shirts we had with us. It ROCKED!!
Enjoy!
Regards,
MARNE

Ex-Commando officer and member of Montgomery's personal liaison team ( he won an immediate MC during Market-Garden ) David Carol Mather died recently.
He entered Parliament after the war and obituaries remembered the occasion when Foreign Minister Douglas Hurd arrived at the House of Commons sporting a long, German/Austrian style overcoat. Mather turned to the person next to him :
'The last time I saw a chap wearing a coat like that...' he said, '.... I shot him !'

I don´t want to get any messages saying " I am holding my position! " . We are not holding a goddamned thing. Let the Germans do that. We are advancing constantly and we are not interested in holding onto anything, except the enemy´s balls...
