I have been thinking about the Ardennes blunder, I think some where in Hitler’s twisted mind he was thinking about another reason. As we all know this operation was just another one of Hitler’s crazy plans, which he believed would work; really I must have missed something. But I started to think about this operation from Hitler’s dark side, didn’t he broadcast a speech sometime in November 1943 if the people failed him he would not shed a tear if they lost the war and so on.

So to the point I think Hitler’s real reason was to slow down the western Armies, and in sure the Soviet army reached Berlin why? Simple the German people failed him and knowing what the Soviets were like the ordinary German citizen was going to suffer when the Soviets entered Berlin. His aim was to prevent the west taking Berlin. Yes it’s only a theory of mind but Hitler was determined to take Germany down with him?

Personally I think Hitler did not give up until the truly last days of Reich when he did not believe in the victory anymore. Until then if nothing else he believed that the miracle like with Frederick the Great would happen. "The Russians would face the biggest defeat in the war in front of Berlin!"

I agree from his logical part of his mind which clearly had a mental block which finally fell way too late.
