I was surfing and found this article about a Halifax navigator by the last name of Martin. The French get a bad rap on this forum but they did alot to help airmen as did the Basque. I know I would not want to stick my neck out to save a stranger who came out of nowhere and risk torture and prison.
It also has a bit about search lights, which is overlooked in history.
