Sorry if this is the wrong topic, We visited the YORKSHIRE AIR MUSEUM at elvington UK for the second time this year on our short break, . The museum is on the site of an old RAF bomber base at one end of the country's longest runway and is run by veterans, who will more than gladly share info and stories off the history of the base. and for one i could listen to them all day speak of the tragedies and triumphs that occured there. The old control tower still stands and houses displays of what it would have been like. All other exhibits are housed in nissen huts.and there are many aircraft based there. there is also the barnes wallis exhibition that houses not only a genuine bouncing bomb, but all his tools and tricks he used, it demonstrates that the man was a genius and was well ahead of his time. This may sound like an advert but i really recommend a visit, its a real window to the past, and if any of you are involved with the place, well done.
