Er, can you fill us in, please? May I deduct there was some kind of trouble with a monument to 'Pappy' Boyington?

Oh yeah, the Liberal college kids made a big stink out of honoring a white man who killed other people. Boyington is part native american. The native american population was not amused by the uneducated stupidity of these college brats whose freedom & right to speak was defended by Boyington.
I caught a bit of a tv interview with the main organizer of the anti Boyington campus movement. Ignorant he was.

Anyone that saw the Foxnews segment where students were calling "Pappy" a murderer, and "we already got 'nuff statues of rich white men", or where "real" heros are glorified in bronze... like the statue honoring COMMUNISTS that fought against Spain, would not want one thin dime to be given to such an anti-American University.

Yeah, I heard about this a while ago. I did some searching and I found this on wikipedia:
"Since the eruption of the controversy, a new version of the original resolution was submitted that called for a memorial to all five UW alumni who received the Medal of Honor after attending the UW.[8] On April 4, 2006, the resolution passed by a vote of 64 to 14 with several abstentions, on a roll call vote. However, despite the fact that the memorial was approved by the student senate, the memorial could take several months or years to complete, as it will have to be approved by the University of Washington administration, and the funds for the memorial, likely to be in the tens of thousands, will all have to be raised privately."

At the Western Washington Fairgrounds in Puyallup, during the first Saturday of every month there (12 years ago) used to be a "Gun Show/Knife Show".
The Japanese pilot who shot down Boyington used to sit at a table and sign a color picture of his Zero shooting down a Corsair with the caption..."Bye Bye Blacksheep" for ten bucks. I missed the chance to get both of them to sign for twenty. They did sit there together for a while.
Unfortunately "Pappy" was already gone when I was there.
If they could forgive each other, why do these punks have a problem?

Didn't hear about that until now. It always gets me pretty worked up when ignorant kids of this generation have no idea what some people have gone through to guarantee their freedom. It's probably best I try not to go overboard by voicing my extreme distaste for people like that.
