Default Need help identifying a medallion

I found this in my great-grandmothers' old house and have been unable to locate much information about it. Any assistance would be appreciated.

It's as blank as can be on the reverse. I would post visual evidence, but I'm a few hundred miles away from home at the moment. Do you have any ideas about it's history?

I found another one, that was selling for $20. I spoke with a collector about them and it was his impression that it was made much later as a decorative item. Fantasy item I believe he said.
