Sharing copies of WWII Documents
I've not found a forum yet, if it exists, regarding sharing copies of documents from World War II. For example, I have a copy of the letter from General Eisenhower distributed to troops on D-Day. The WWII Forum seems an appropriate place to share it. I would appreciate knowing if it is possible to do so or where I would post a copy. I may have to set up an area on my own website and share the link if the problem is pixel size.
Thanks,
Michelle

Re: Sharing copies of WWII Documents
Why not put the image on somewhere like photobucket or flickr for example and than add the link into the thread.
Thanks for the offer to let us see it.

Re: Sharing copies of WWII Documents
Over Christmas, I'll work on updating my website again and will add scans of the documents there, then post the link. Stay tuned!

Its sounds very interesting, Macrusk .
For share you could use the thumbnails images option of the webs dedicated to this task.
This image is a thumbnail, for example. And is a photo make with my camera Sony DSC-P-52, followed resizing with Power Toys of Microsoft, a few of retouch contrast and brigth, recut the borders and posted in Imageshack.
The original photo is this:
For minimize the size in Kb, adjust the resolution of your scanner at 200x200 pixels. Its very aceptable for display in monitors, not for print.

Re: Sharing copies of WWII Documents
Thanks Jan,
I did just try resaving as 200 pi, but it was still too large. I'll have to rescan the document and try it at 200 x 200.

The limit of display in Windows is 100 pi, in Macintosh is 75 pi.
Scan at 100 pi
In advanced programs of graphics as Photoshop exist the option "save and optimize image to web"

Re: Sharing copies of WWII Documents
Michelle, I use a small program called Fotosizer to resize photos. It's very easy to use and free to download.
Fotosizer Batch Image Resizer - Image resizing made easy

Wittmann Documents
Is this the kind of thing you have in mind?
Some samples of Michael Wittmann's personnel documents, I have no real recollection of where I got them from, I have a feeling they were a free download from somewhere but it was a while ago.:

Dear Adam:
Thanks for share these documents. Are very curious!!
One method: Merge all the documents in a unique zip archive, then upload it.

Tried that Jan, but the Zip upload kept failing.
Cheers anyway,
Adam.
