From all that I have read, yes it is how it happened. Madga poisoned the kids and then they went out to the courtyard and Josef shot Magda first and then himself. Orders were to burn their bodies as well but there was not enough petro so their bodies were not totally destroyed. There are photos of him and you could still make out that it was him.

Indeed, I have seen the Russian pictures of Josef's partly burnt body and knew of Magda poisoning the children but never read anything to suggest Josef shot Magda then himself.

I have read that exact thing from different sources. The book "The Bunker" was one which was based on interviews with the last of the bunker survivors.

Yes, I believe it as well that the story of mr Göbbels shooting Magda and then himself is probably the correct one.

( There´s quite alot of versions as with Hitler´s death but I won´t tell any here...)

Yes - just to add to what's already been said ; I've read numerous books about Goebbels and the 'Last Days In The Bunker' and I don't think that anyone will seriously disagree that the scenes in 'Downfall' seem authentic.

( Hitler is of course a different matter entirely. I well remember talking to one of his daughters backstage after his famous Albert Hall concert in - when was it ? - '77 or '78...... )

but what would have the Russians done with her kids? ever consider that? the Russians were ruthless, maybe she did them a favor, maybe not.

The kids would have been taught to be perfect communistst of course in the best possible schools perhaps with Stalin being their teacher.
