Default Hitler's Sunken Secret

I just finished watching a documentary on NOVA about the heavy water experiments the Nazis were working on, but it turned out that in 1942 the Germans decided to put the nuclear program in the civilian sector. If they only knew the potential of what nuclear weapons can do.... and the Allies were lucky they didn't because if the Nazis got the atomic bomb first we would be living in a completely different world right now.

Heisenberg and the Nazi Atomic Bomb Project, 1939-1945

Read this book and youŽll see how wrong the nazi scientists were about their ideas about the bomb.

Hitler expected the war to be over within a year and deemed the project unnecessary, which led to the privatization of the project. Had the project been given proper resources to be successful and made a priority, Heisenberg may have (been forced to) over come his errors regarding the chain reaction.
