Default Horror Beyond Dieppe

I was searching online again for the units my father served in and found this entry from a 2002 article in the Canadian Legion Magazine. This man served both in the 15th Coast Brigade in which my father served (although he was 58th battery) and the 16th Battery 3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. My father was also a boxer, who fell in love with an English woman, and I believe from bits my Dad said that he may have been on the commando training as well.

IF my father had not been injured, in plastic surgery hospital, and recovering - he could have been one of those killed or gone through what this man did. Sadly, Mr. Waddy passed away in 2004 and I never saw this article until yesterday.

Thumbs up Re: Horror Beyond Dieppe

Thanx for sharing the story Michelle!

I thought this one was priceless, I guess worth getting the beating,too...

"During that time I volunteered to work in the cookhouse where I noticed that the German bread came in kilos. A loaf of black bread sometimes weighed three kilograms. Being young and somewhat reckless, I suggested to our guard that the Germans should have used the bread to bomb London. However, the guard did not laugh at this. Instead, I was beaten for my attempt at humour."
