Hello fellow members,

A friend found a piece of shrapnel on Omaha beach.
Is it possible to find out what it came from and which side used it?
Would love to see a picture of the original shell.
It's about the size of a human head and quite heavy. I have attached some images in the hope someone may be able to point me in the right direction.

It is very difficult to tell from the image but it looks as though it may be the remains of a copper driving-band from a large Allied shell - probably Naval.
