post rhine river crossing
Now that I seem to be a accredited member for posting and my 1 photo came out good I will try to add to the forum. About 2 or 3 days after the Rhine River crossing one of our squad "liberated "a Kraut camera with film in it and shot some pics of us, 2 of which had me i n them. I am posting one of them (hopefully) in that time period. A kinda dirty group of 3 of us. Me on the left. in the center is John Morreal from Rockford Ill. and on the ri ght is Sgt. Ed Garrow our Sgt. from Phila PA. . Yea, we are kinda beat and dirty
but thats normal. It was go go go from there on with few rest stops till wars end. Luckily, all 3 of us from that company survived the war.

Re: post rhine river crossing
Thank you, J3rdinf, for sharing this photo of you from those days of war. Glad you all made it home! Something we've discussed in a couple of other threads lately was the state of exhaustion and not getting to be clean for the fighting men.

Thanks for posting the picture. Do you have more?
What was your opinion of the Thompson you are holding?
May we know your first name?

Re: post rhine river crossing
A very warm welcome here J3rdinf, and many thanks for sharing your photo with us. Such personal snapshots are often very much more interesting than the the standard, 'official' photos which are over-used in many books.
( And yes, it makes me feel like a kid asking 'what'll she do, mister?' but I'd quite like to hear your views on the M1 Thompson as well.....)

Re: post rhine river crossing
Thank you guys for a warm welcome to a new member. It is certainly appreciated by me. That Thompson is a Mi-A1 and a great piece of work and stood by me well. Long story how I ended up with it though and managed to keep it as not T.O.E..
Hated to get rid of it at wars end but had to go back to the Infantry T.O.E.. Will sit back and slow down posting as I have only one more wartime pic. Others are post ETO war pics while waiting to go home. ( only cameras with film were l"iberated" then tossed aside and the film kept in hopes.) Except for CERTAIN worthwhile cameras like Robots and Zeiss Icons. Some of these were kept by some. Once again th anks for the replies guys. "I will return"/////
