Default A word of thanks and a farewell Toast

Tomorrow marks a pivotal moment in humanities history, and I think it behooves us all to thank the brave and stalwart men who saved us all from the grips of tyranny.

In my own chunk of the world? I'd like to say thanks and farewell to my Uncle Norman Farrer, 28th division,My Uncle Oliver, 8th army air corps, and thanks to two men I'm proud to call friends, Jesse Oxendine, Company B of the 325th Glider Infantry,82nd Airborne, and Col Jim Moncrief, 9th armored infantry battalion, 6th armored division.

A very big thank you to....

The 160.000 troops who landed on the beaches and dropped from the sky
The 15.000 aircrews
The 200.000 saliors on 6939 vessels
And the millions of men and women who helped to make the liberation of Europe happen.

I salute you all. Poland, Czechoslovakia, Greece, Norway.

"But in a larger sense, we can not dedicate-we can not consecrate-we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here."

Thank you to all who served and sacrificed.
