Proud Frenchman?
I wonder what he was awarded the Iron Cross to be so proud?

Re: Proud Frenchman?
Interesting, allow me some time to find out whether this is a volunteer who fought with the Axis or a propaganda picture. Could it be a LVF picture? But these guys had German uniforms. He obvioulsy earned the German E.K. Would it be possible to enlarge the orange caption? I believe I saw this picture earlier.

Look at the moustache, it's Adolf in disguise

Re: Proud Frenchman?
There are a whole bunch of them on the recall but I believe it's the medaille militaire, not sure though it's a bit small and I believe I see palms on it too.

At least 12 ribbons it looks like. I wish I could resize the caption . I wonder if he survived the war and if so,what did he do with the Iron Cross?

Re: Proud Frenchman?
it's really hard to see the ribbons, but I believe there is a wounded medal, a Croix de Guerre, some colonial wars too, possibly an evader medal too.

Re: Proud Frenchman?
Could it be Jacques Doriot, the leader of the LVF and SS legion Charlemagne?
Jacques Doriot - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
When France went to war with Germany in 1939, Doriot became a staunch pro-German and supported Germany's occupation of northern France in 1940. Doriot resided in collaborationist Vichy France for a time, but he eventually found that it wasn’t nearly as fascist as he had hoped it would be and moved to occupied Paris, where he espoused pro-German and anti-Communist propaganda on Radio Paris. In 1941, he and fellow Fascist collaborator Marcel Déat founded the Legion des Volontaires Francais (LVF), a French unit of the Wehrmacht.
Doriot fought with the LVF and saw active duty on the Eastern Front when Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June of 1941. When the LVF was all but destroyed, Doriot fought with the Wehrmacht, and was awarded the Iron Cross in 1943. In December of 1943, Doriot travelled to Sigmaringen, Germany, and later became a member of the exile Vichy government there. He was killed on 22 February 1945 while traveling from Mainau to Sigmaringen when his car was strafed by Allied fighters. He was buried in Mengen. [2]

Re: Proud Frenchman?
Check this link again with the medals. It would be a striking coincidence if there were two such guys with the same E.K + French medals. In the mean time I will see if I can find more potentials candidates, but there won't be that many guys with a similar curiculum.

Re: Proud Frenchman?
Argh, a Czech site
Still doesn't look like the same guy, the one in the original photo has a kind of Gaullesque élégance
Besides your latest Doriot pic doesn't show a Lég.d'Hon., instead he is wearing a Star of David !!!
