I do get your point, but I have seen countless posts that meerly forward opinions without ever being backed up - and in the end it becomes meaningless. There are certain topics that aren't made for discussion.
Indeed. However you are guilty of the same thing in this instance. You have given an opinion, yet you refuse to back it up

If you don't want to discuss Monty, fair enough, but refrain from the snide comments about him.

Hello redcoat,

Nope, I think you are on the wrong track.

It is IMO perfectly allright to give or express an opinion without having to back it up. If however one simply brings up opinions within a discussion then the discussion becomes meaningless.
Since I am not in a discussion with anyone regarding a or other British generals your argument is besides the point.

Imagine we both in a car, I will say - redcoat hit the breaks the signal is on red - too late you smack fully (but lightly) into another car.

My snide comment and opinion will be "are you blind"?, or did you get your DL in a lottery?

So it is up to you to accept whatever I said, - or start a discussion about maybe not being blind, or lottery but having been distracted due to my constant babbling, and off we go....

Or I might just reply, forget it!

Regards
Kruska

Drucius is on a distinguished road

This is a great forum, apparently you can say what you like and there's no compunction to back it up with any evidence!

Well, let's see...Slim was a looney, Guderian was gay and Rommel liked to tap dance naked but for his jackboots and a peacock feather up his bahookie.

This has gone far enough. In the future, keep on task or more than warnings will be issued.
