Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
OK folke here goes some explanations on these and thank you for your effort in getting them here Julio ;-))
I might have to make more than one post to give info on these because my computer keeps timing out for some reason?
Anyway,
1) Is one pic of a 4 pic grouping I got about ten years ago. It is an earlier war pic and was taken somewhere in France. The four pics are of an EKII award ceremony. I don't have info on the exact unit it was but I do have my suspecions though ;-))
2) Is an Army photo that was taken of a line of Germans captured at Avranches, France-on August 22, 1944. Photo is a War Pool Photo. This photo was not to be released in the British Isles or Western Hemisphere.
3) One of my Heinrich Hoffmann PK press photos showing Oberst Werner Molders congratulating one of his men OFW Edmund Wagner, who was an RKT. Wagner was in: 9/JG51 RKT posthumous award date: Nov 17, 1941. He was killed in action on Nov 13, 1941 near Pafmutowka, Russia.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
Pic 4) HH PK pic of General der Kavallerie Eberhard von Mackensen taken somewhere on the Eastern Front w/ him inside his command Panzerspahwagon. Photo date was in October 1942-possibly Oct 13??? At this time von Mackensen was the CG of 3rd Army Corps. He got his RK on: July 27, 1941, and was the 95th recipient of the Oak Leaves on: May 26, 1942.
Pic 5) One of my autographed photos of then Oberleutnant zur See Klaus Feldt-who was a Schnellboot Commander and KDT of "S 30" in the 2nd Schnellbootsflottille. Feldt also was the 362nd recipient of the Oak Leaves on: Jan 1-1944.
Pic 6) An unknown RKT with his son who was in a Panzer unit. This is somewhere in Russia-I don't know what date.
7) This pic is pic Nr 4 from the same group as pic 1 was from which is of an EKII award ceremony early war and in France.
8) A LW Bomber crew celebrates this crews 1,000th mission with their Staffenkapitan (sadly-date names and places are not listed. Of course for security reasons.
9) Associated Press photo. I love the written comment on the back which says: "Roughnecks recruited by the Germans from primative Soviet Peoples made ideal SS Hatchetmen". The date stamp is unreadable. If the writer would have looked more carefully, you will note that this man was in the 1st SS Panzer Division-LAH-not one of the Eastern complimented W-SS units.
10) Some sort of Ceremony. I saw this exact same shot that was shown in an old German newsreel talking about the Eastern Front. I don't remember what year but would expect it to be no later than just before Barbarossa in 1941.
11) This is a pic (1-of 3 that im aware of) that shows RKT Hauptmann Peter Kiesgen who at the time of his RKT award was a Leutnant and a Platoon Leader in 1st Kompanie of Inf Rgmt 239-RK date: Oct 5 1941. This first pic as well as the other two that I don't have-have all been published in various books. This pic in particular is the full pic which for some reason? is not shown in full-when publihsed in books like Tank Killers and such. Anyway, I THINK Tank Killers shows all three Kiesegan pics. Also, in the books I have seen this pic published in-every single one of them mis identifies those "boys" instead of saying that Kiesegen is instructing HJ on the use of the Panzerfaust. Also, the pics were taken in either late 1943 or early 1944.
12) Great Pennant shot as well as great shot of RKT uboat ace Kapitanleutnant Johann Mohr and was KDT of U 124. He is seen with his exec on the boats conning tower just after coming in from one of his longest patrols. If im not mistaken? I THINK he was Killed in Action about a year after this photo was taken. Julio or Paul can correct me on this if they wish? :-)) Anyway, Mohr got his RK on: March 27, 1942 and he was the 177th recipient of the Oak Leaves on: Jan 13, 1943.
13) A Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Battery somewhere on the French Coast. Pic taken on: April 1, 1942.
14) General der Flieger and Leader of the NSFK (National Socialist Flieger Korps) Pour le Merite Recipient Friedrich Christian Christiansen on: July 24-1943. I have his PlM info but will have to post that later.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
15-16 are two of three originals of SS Standartenfuhrer Hermann Fegelein that I own, KDT of an SS Kavallerie Brigade. He got his RKT on: March 2nd 1942. Nr 157 Oak Leaves on: Dec-21-1942 and Nr 83 Swords on: July 30-1944. As you know-he was shot by firing squad after being captured by the Feldgendarmerie or other Waffen SS soldiers-while trying to flee Berlin during the final days.
17) Just a regular photo of some German offizier that I got many years ago-no info unfortunately.
18) Some Germans captured shortly after D-Day-forced to "ride" the hood of a Jeep while on their way to a prisoner collection point.
19) An Infantry RKT. I THINK I might have his name listed somewhere? but will have to look around to find out.
Looks like I finally earned (them) salutes you guys gave me for these. Julio deserves them too for the actual work in getting these images here. I have many many more such are like these ;-))
PS, if some Moderator feels like merging these posts-that's perfectly fine by me.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
C ~
he signed at least 6 items for me, several special(s) exclusively for his viewing only as it related to his career in the 2nd S-Bootflottille, short answers to several questions as well as I did not want to make things too tedious for him, I have a host of info in German on the man with full-on bio.
just need to get off my butt and post pics of his nice little section of militaria I have on the gent.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
My many grattitudes to you Julio for taking the time to post these.
First group of pics:
1) is actually a postcard that shows an unnamed unit marching somewhere in Greece. The card didn't even give a date.
2) PK pic of Werner Molders being interviewed by a PK man. This was on November 26-1940. I don't know the reason for his interview at that time.
3) One of my more recent HH PK pics. This one shows Rumanian Gebirgesjagers being awarded EKIIs by a German Awards Offizier. Thes men were being awarded these medals because of their valiant attack and gret accomplishments during the attacks through the Kuban Bridgehead. Date: Oct-19-1943. The awards officers last name is: Heuberger.
4) This pic was a pick-up in Feb that shows 13 men of a Pioneer unit (I don't have this photo handy to tell you more) but these men were all awarded various grades of the EK-EKII, EKI and EKI Spange. I have more info on them but can't get it until I get my other pics back from being scanned to CD. Anyway, the backside of this pic lists all the mens names, ranks and what award they got as well as their unit? I think there is a copy of the backside of this pic on one of the CDs I sent to Julio. Anyway, they were just awarded their awards by their commanding General-who is not sen in the photo.
5) Ah yes, my first of three original snapshot photos of then Generalleutnant Heinz Guderian (the gent closet to the aircraft) who is somewhere on the Eastern Front visiting one of his HQs in the field. There is writing on the backside but I couldn't make anything out other than Guderians last name.
6) One of my favorite most HH PK pics-Klaus Feldt recieving his RK by GADM Erich Raeder. The other Officer is: Kptm z.S. Butow. This was on May 8-1941. I also love the great shot showing off their medals. Feldt BTW, is 94-95? and is still alive ;-))
7) One of my all-time favorite PK pics. This one shows Panzergrenadiers loading up on a STUG. This one is also the first PK pic I ever bought.
8) Taken on Jan-15-1942. Another favorite of mine because I love Winter pics. A camouflaged supply column somewhere on their way to deliver supplies on the Eastern Front. This column was under the command of an officer by the name of Stroh.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
Hi E, im glad you have been active with Herr Feldt. He was very gracious with me too.
9) Another favorite up-front front pic in Winter on the Eastern Front. Men observing a newly raging battle that is going on in the trees you see in the background. This was on Dec-23-1941 and was one of many actions that happened on their attempt to take Moscow.
10) A small Fuel-point in a forest on the Eastern Front on: Jan 28-1942. Shows a Panzer Leutnant getting some spare fuel.
11) Great shot of a heavy artilery piece "clearing it's throat" somwhere on the Eastern Font. Jan-20-1942.
12) Unfortunately no info slip with this pic. However, it's an early war pic taken somewhere in France. Notice all the DOuble Decal helmets in wear? ;-)) I'd give my teeth to own every complete uniform in this photo-which would be more than enough to retire happily on-not that im of retirement age yet ;-))
13) Another favorite of mine. A flight of Stukas over Malta on: May-21-1942.
14) Still another favorite pic of mine showing a lonely Fighter sitting on a thawing Airfield somewhere on the Eastern Front on April 7-1943.
15-16) Pics 1 & 2 on different occasions that show Italian COunt Ciano on a visit inspecting the Berlin Watch Battalion-along with the units KDT. These are slightly pre-war and can you guess just whom that German Officer is??? Ill leave out his name for now.
17) A combat pic taken at some point, in or near Stalingrad-Ican't make out all of the handwriting on the back. Unfortunately no dates and names given.
18) With one of Guderians units on the Eastern Front on: March-7-1942. Great shot and a favorite.
19) Another of my favorite HH PK pics showing Oberstleutnant Joachim Heidschmidt RKT posing with a sniper rifle. This pic was taken on: Oct-14-1944. He was a Major and a Btn KDT in G.R. 509. His award date was: Aug-28-1944. Apparently he recieved a recent promotion.
20) This pic was taken in Dec-1935. I can't make out exact date or info as is handwritten. Is another Berlin Parade pic.
21) A ""technical"' pic and one I always liked. Showing airfield crew arming an ME-109. Somewhere in the East-date is unknown.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
Grouping Nr.2)
1) A group pic of some men from the 44th Inf Div @ Stalingrad. Exact date and such unkn.
2) This is one of the first pics I ever bought and is also a favorite. This is an Internation News pic-called a "Slug." Taken on March-18-1935 @ Thuringen, Germany. I love the caption: "The Versailles treaty goes into the waste-paper basket. This scene from yesterday exemplifies the German spirit of today. Tomorrow? nobody knowns. The Reich will have astanding Army of half a million. There will be more reviews like the one (above) at Thuringen....more massed Phalanxes, more Goose-steps...and more Bayonets. Mars Marches on.
3) One of my signed pics from Adolf Galland.
4) Pic Nr 3 of 3 originals I own of Hermann Fegelein. This time he's with Himmler.
5) Highly published Russian Front photo. Another International News photo. "Another Soviet Town goes up in smoke. Slobin, USSR...with the background of a blazing building, this German Panzerwagon and an anti-tank gun are hauled to a more advantageous postition as the German Armed Forces roll ever closer to Moscow. Oct-21-1941 at: 9:54am.
6) Light Flak on the main front lines. Pic taken somewhere on the Eastern Front on: May-14-1942.
7) A favorite of mine. Pic taken inside an underground battalion communications Bunker somewhere on the Eastern Front on: March 13-1942.
9) US Army Signals Corps photo taken by Lt. J.S.Cohen for ETO HQ 1945. "Captured German guns in Andernach, Germany, taken by 11th Armored Division of the 3rd U.S.Army, are examined by: T/5 Russell, W. Mccarty of Mancelona, Michegan and T/5 Stanley W. Stochla, of Detroit, Mich.
Photo property of the 11th Armored Division.
10) Pic 1 of 2 (thanks to Ivan) taken of men on U 181 (Luths ex-boat and also the boat my friend Karl Kaiser DKiG served on) This pic shows all the NCOs of the uboat and the man playing with another mans beard was Michael :Micki" Muller. Karl Kaiser can be seen in this photo - back row middle and not looking at the camera.
11) Love this pic. G.I's frisking German prisoners newly captured. German prisoners inspected at Sarrebourg--German troops taken by Americans in the Sarrebourg area in France, East of Nancy, are inspected by MPS who take from them sharp possessions like knives and scissors. This is an AP Wire Photo from Signal Corps. 1944-exact date unkn.
12) Taken on May-4th-1939 in Berlin. "A good time was had by all. Among the most important guests at Chancellor Adolf Hitler's Birthday Military Show on April 20th--were these aides seen with him here watching the parade of Nazi might. Left to right: Field Marshall Hermann Wilhelm Goring, Admiral Erich Raeder, Hitler, and Col-General Walther von Brauchitsch.
Associate Press Wire Photo.
13) Notice the ""Cav cut-out"" helmets? This is another early buy and also a favorite of mine. I don't have the original of this one handy for some reason? but will find it and give it's info later. As well-since its din din time-im going to finish thes others up when i get back from luinch.

Hi E, your probably correct about the Feldt award date. The Fellgiebels book is good but not great and i've found quite a few mistakes in it.

Re: Carl's WWII German PK Press Photos
Hi E, Julio, Andy,
Hi E, I hadn't thought to check the DKiG book on him even though I have been doing a lot of looking at it lately ;-)) Heh heh, I also found out that the Major Baron Peter von le Fort is a DKiG Recipient. He is the one mentioned in my GJ AR 79 Regimentstagesbefehl that I have that Andy kindly translated for me ;-)) I have not checked b ut, now that im thinking about the Major Baron-I kinda wonder if he is a Blood Order Recipient too?
Hi Julio--great guess my friend ;-)) Funny enough, I have had both pics for many years, and it never dawned on me that the Officer in the pic could have been the Fox himself-untill that is, I saw a documentary fairly recently that also showed news footage of both of these visits by Count Ciano and pointed out the D/Fox himself-and it all finally snapped together in my Brain that at the time, the Fox had commanded this Btn in Berlin ;-)) And here it was that I thought I would never manage to be able to own an original pic with him in it-let alone two ;-)) Also, I never thought I would own originals of Guderian and von Rundstedt-but I now have three Guderians and one von Rundstedt originals :-D
Hi Andy, thanks Mate ;-)) Just wait till I can get these others out to Skipper-you will se all-kinds of great stuff in those too ;-)) Wait till you get a load of the other two Guderians and the von Rundstedt. The von Rundstedt pic is one taken by the Staff Photographer of the General Staff of Army Group "A". Unfortunately, I don't know who this Offizier is-but hope to find out when I can get around to sending a query to WaSt in Berlin.
