interesting Scott, some years back when my children were wee small I did an hour showing of some of my militaria for a grade school project...........boy that was the wrong thing to do, I simply wanted to cover Germany in some simple form during ww2, well next to me was an older woman which I found later from Nancy France. boy did I get an earful before and after my presentation and even after further reflection on both parts her eyes could of burned a hole through my head. I understood what I could of her miserable suffering at the hands of evil and apoligized to her upon offending, but it did no good

There is a HUGE difference between BEING a Nazi and STUDYING Nazis and or WWII-related subjects. I would never espouse Nazi doctrines or practices. But I do feel that by learning about such subjects we can learn how better to deal with things like that in the future. Those that accuse us history buffs of being Nazis are betraying their ignorance of the subject.

Of course, being accused of being a Nazi opens the door to educating the accuser about what they obviously are ignorant of.

Hi Scott, I do take other peoples feelings into consideration when the subject comes up--by taking the time to explain how and why I have such an interest in that time period. ;-)) If I didn't care, i'd have told them to cram it-but that wouldn't solve anything.

Anyway, one of my best friends here in Corpus Christi, is a lady in her upper 70's or early 80's who was a surviver of one of the Concentration Camps. As a gift to me last year, she gave to me the one and only item she kept as a sort of a reminder-of her bad times in the "tender-loving-care" of the nazis. The item in question was a Concentration Camp Currenct Note. Anna knew I liked studying that history and had no problem with me doing so.

One day when I was volunteering at the Museum, she came upstairs where I was and gave me a few things. Among the items I got from her, was her only possession from her time in hell. I told her that I was honored for her to think that much of me to give me such a momento. Anna said she knew i'd take care of it. Well, recently, I gave this to a good friend-with Anna's blessings, and I know this item will always be in good hands. This Gent I refer to, is one of the highly resepected members of this site.

And something special about Anna, is that she does not hate Germans, only the nazis and what those creeps stood for. I wish you guys knew her, Anna is a very special lady. Also, my only problem with her is, that she spends too much time in California-and I miss my conversations with her ;-)) Actually, it's not a problem I have with her-I just miss being with her and her husband and having a nice chat.

Hi Scott, yeah--my feelings exactly. Anna usually lives here about 6 or so months of the year and then she stays in Calif/ the rest of the time. I know some of hre stay in Calif/ is because that's where her three Sons live. Get this, all three of her Sons are Doctors. One is a Dentist, another is a General Practitioner and the third is a bone-specialist.

Anyway, she is now in Calif/ and is due back here I think in March or April. I don't blame her at all though, the scenery is nices as well as the climate is too. I think she stays somewhere around San louis Obispo (SP?) or in the area.

Perhaps E knows the place im talking about? Im not even sure if that is the correct name?

I don't know what it is that interests me so much in the Nazis, maybe because they were such a enigma. I mean what group/government/movement in the 19th centry had hundreds of people marching in a certain formation holding torches so that from above it would have the look of a flaming swastika? who took entire countries over in a blink of an eye with the blitzkrieg tactic which the USA would change to "shock and awe", who had the heartless will to send hundreds and hundreds of his own soldiers into steel hail "USSR"? To quote Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade referring to the quest for the holy grail; "If it is captured by the Nazis the armies of darkness will march all over the face of the Earth".

Most people only know the standard media version of nazism and Hitler and never learn anything else. I'm considered a nazi because of my collection of books and things on Hitler and ww2. I have a party armband and badge I bought at a shop in Milwaukee years ago. Collecting is way too expensive for me. I don't have my khaki brown shirts any more (US Navy chief type). I'm a typical ex-military right-wing nationalist, so by media, politically correct standards I must be a nazi. However, I like being an American nationalist, not a nazi.

According to these views I am, alas, a Nazi. Ignorance is bliss and most people are full of it. When I bought my first piece of Militaria(an Imperial calvary sword made in 1916) I was shunned by my own family for loving Hitler too much. ITS FROM WW1 NOT 2. anyways its why I no longer buy my books from bookstores but from Amazon

Interesting topic! I'm glad it's been rekindled since its inception so that I could find it.

Well, I've never been called a Nazi due to my interest in WW2 history. I find the Nazi war machine, esp their aircraft, a fascinating thing to study and learn more about. I made models as a kid of 109s and Ju88s, but now it is neat to read about them and how and why each type of plane - fighter, bomber, etc - was built and how it fulfilled its specific function.

CD13, that reminds me of the frst two models I built. The first one wasa Fokker tri-plane-The Red Baron's Triplane to be exact. That one lasted for about an hour or so after I finished it. I was a kid, and had thought how cool it would be to tie kite strings to it around the wing supports-and I went across the street to the Lutheran Church located there. This particular Church has it's Spire built on a triangular brick foundation and placed on top. Well, at first it was great to be "flying" this model and trying to land it in the grass. I had been doing so for quite awhile but on one of my circles, I smashed it headlong into the brick base of that Spire. The "red Baron" was again - grounded.

The next model I built was a 3 foot long model of the Battleship Tirpitz. That darn thing took me all Summer long to build. Sadly, it too bit the dust. This time to BB Gun Artillery.
