This is sort of a job posting for you WW2'ers out there.
I'm making a new site dedicated to the HBO show 'Band of Brothers'. The page will contain information like character profiles, episode synopsies, quotes, historical accuracy etc. Anyone who wants to help please contact me here at the site and we will get started.
Of course full credit will be given to all contributors.
Let me know...

Thnaks guys!
Yeah, HBO is not available in Canada and I do not get cable while I study in the US. So I will have to do this project by proxy. I'm gonna need someone to fill in the info for me. Hopefully I get some takers.
We will see...

I'm back! (excuse my recent lack of posts - my internet acces has been deimated to almost nothing in the last month)
Anyways, I have HBO and have already set my vcr for the first episode. HBO has been airing "the making of Band of Brothers" all week, and let me tell you - ITS GONNA BE GOOD. They showed a mall teaser clip from the Market-Garden drop scene and lets just say that Saving Private Ryan might be de-throned as far as special effects, drama, and realism. All who do not have HBO, please do whatever you can to see it; there's no telling when it will be available on DVD.
Otto, I'm afraid I cannot commit to your needed position, but the episodes will be taped as they air and you know how I've got a penchant for coming up north bearing gifts......

Canuck is not at all derogatory, there was even a comic named "Captain Canuck", a sort of Canadian version of Captain America.
Hartmann, glad to hear you are taping the show, and I truly appreciate the northern visits.

On an unfortunate note, a publication much read and respected in the United States, Time magazine, offered an unflattering article on the realism of Band of Brothers, suggesting that they had abandoned any sort of plot device to delve too heavily into realism. They similarly pointed out several cliché scenes - such as those to be found in any romantic war movie. Most of the article, however, focused on what the author seemed to feel was "unnecessary" or "misguided" realism.
Sounds right at home with me.

I need to read that article. I want realism the more real the better. It can't get to real for me, no John Wayne style movies for me.

For Erich "Bubi" H,--Otto, and Billy.
Erich: I forgive you for your lack of posts as you forgot you told be about your narrow escape from the Russians just recently.
Did you forget about that early morning scramble that you and you squadron of Messers had to do because the Russians had stirred-up a Hornets nest on a section of the front. Your sqadron was to be the fighter protection for Hans-Ulrich Rudels Stukas.
You had just shot down your second Russian on this mission and your fighter had been hit by artillery firs and you had to go in for a belly landing--trailing black smoke and all.
You crashed in a field and had noticed a German truck approaching near you on a road thinking you were about to be rescued but had turned out that these men were Russians. You faked being hurt-they loaded you onto the truck and took you to see a doctor. Still faking while seeing that doc, they then reloaded you on the truck and headed further behind Russian lines.
You noticed some Stukas that were flying around and the truck slowed so you jumpeed up knocking the Russian into the cab of the truck and escaped from the bed of the truck running through a field of sunflowers while the surprised Russians were firing at you.
You escaped and found some shelter. After some hours passed, you heard and saw a Russian Recon patrol nearby and you decided to follow them at a distance as you knew they would lead you to the front to the German lines.
After the patrol went past a few Russian farmhouses and disappearedover a hill, you made a dash to one of the houses hiding bunder the porch when you heard explosions and firing. The surviving Rusians made there way back over the hill and you ran towards the action.
When you arrived, all you noticed was the spent cartridge casings and then someone shouted at you in German to HALT. They fired a shot at you hitting your pants leg but not you. You told them to stop shooting and that you were a shotdown German pilot. The rest is history.
Otto: Thanks for explaining that term for me, my CANUCK friend.
Billy: whats a newfie? someone from NewFoundland?
For all interested, this newest addition to WW2 magazine, has alot of stuff about band of Brothers. I just picked it up today as they finally started to carry it again at HEB for the first time in well over 2 years.

Carl, he he - I read that, too in Erich Hartmann: German Fighter Ace (Hartmann & Jager). Great text and pics.
Band of Brothers update: I've purchased a blank tape and am getting ready for the first episode tomorrow night. Did anyone see the clip on Jay Leno last night??? It was only about 30 secs. long, but even THEN it had me on the end of my seat! A bunch of GIs were attempting (mightly unsuccessfully I might add) to bazooka an advance of STUG IIIs. Dare I say it was better than Saving Private Ryan(?)
Anyways, for all who eventually see it, we're in for a big treat.

I just read about Band of Brothers in World War two presents magazine. It talked about a sence with an attack on Bastogne with over 400 german soldiers and 9 tanks. I can't wait to see that. If half of what they say about band of brothers is true its gonna be one hell of a movie.
So is Otto still gonna make that Band of Brothers site and has anyone heard of the new Nick Cage about the navho code talkers.

Saw the first two episodes of Band Of Brothers last night, did anybody else?
The second one, Day of Days was excellent, the combat was very similar to Saving Private Ryan
