Yeah that's right..........
To all my past comrades here in the wonderful WW2 Forums, I'm glad to be back from a way-too-long hiatus which was brought on by the admin facists at work followed by unemployment.
Carl, be so nice and give me your mailing adress so I can send you a copy of me and Usch with our Porsche (James Dean pic - no, I didn't forget). Sorry for the delay.
Oh, and be sure to check out my ongoing MP-40 project by going to the films link and click on its icon. I'd love to get some new (or old) sightings.
Uber Alles,
Erich

Will do, my friend. All sin is forgiven. Your hiatus must have been because of your being "borrowed" and sent to the Air Force Base either in Arizona or Colorado, as a guest instructor in fighter tactics. hope the desert air was'nt too harsh?

I almost forgot, I think I have a film cell or two from Cross of Iron, that I think shows Leutnant Meier and somebody else, with an MP 38/40. I'll recheck what I have as soon as I can think of it, and will let you know.
These are during the Russian attack scenes in which Lt Meier was bayoneted by a Russian and Corporal Kruger shoots the Russian with his Luger.

It's good to have you back Hartmann. We need a little help with air superiority around here.

Carl, the Cross of Iron pics would be an excellent addition to the ongoing list. As for the Air Force, they put me up in a great hotel with a swimming pool. Its a far fetch from the Siberian camps.
I'm also working on a complete list of famous people (political and otherwise) whom I've come across in my travels across this great country. Let me just say it will be..............interesting.

OK E.H. let me see if I can get photos made somewhere of my film cells and i'll gladly send them to you. I have some cells that are two to one holder, and those wouldnt show up on the screen because of the double mounting? Also, the place I went to, charges $10.00 per photo but, i'll see if I can get them done elsewhere cheaper.
I "KNOW" these will reproduce, because thats how I found them posted when they were up for auction about a year and a half ago.
Heh heh heh. Also, I assume that your being well treated these days? You had lost alot of weight in the pow camp. Hows Alfred these days? I can imagine the list of names you did compile during your "travels". Whatever happened to that Baron von Somethingorother that you used to know? Did he survive the russian death camps?

Hey Carl, don't worry about the photos if they want that kind of money per pic. Its no real biggie.
Actually, there was a famous photographer who survived the holocaust by the name of......Erich Hartmann.
Check this link out: http://www1.agemont.it/CRAF/mostre/hart_ing.htm
Hartmann is to the immediate left; the resemblance is uncanny.

Hey there, Peppy. I'm not 100% sure what this other Hartmann did, but I believe that he was a German-born jew and wrote a book on his experience of the haulocaust. At least this is what a quick internet search told me.
And Otto - look under the carpet outside your back door.

You've gotta love episode 2's D-day drop scene.
Don't worry. I'm like an old, dirty penny - I always turn up.

Bad news Hartmann! I was about to watch episode 7 and it was a tape of "Ed". Jeez what a downer! I just discovered that the last two tapes are not BoB, but episodes of "Ed". You must have dropped off the wrong tapes. Thanks for the six six episodes though, they were great!

Glad to see you back here Peppy. Any chance of you going to the Houston gunshow this weekend? I'll be there with several others, let me know and we can meet up.
E.A.Hartmann, no problem, if I can get an image made I can get one made elsewhere cheaper, even if I have to send it away--let me see what I can come up with.
Otto, I just got in a nice Hessian pinback badge from Detlev Niemann of Hamburg, Germany. This is an award for bravery called: Warriors Cross, which is not exactly a cross as we know it--unless it is a runic cross? its got a wreath with letters inside it. This was the highest combat decoration an Enlisted man in an Hessian unit could get--in ww1. It is actually a higher award than the Iron Cross 1st class! Tis also a somewhat hard-to-find and rare award.
To see a picture of it, it is item number 5659 on Detlevs site. You have to look before friday though, because since its sold to me hDetlev will update his site with new items and the photo will be deleted.

My mistake Hartmann, I did actually have episodes 7 and 8 but I'm couldn't find any others. After it all I'm missing the last two episodes, DAMN! Maybe there was a tape mixup.
Great TV shows! BoB is great.

Thanks Carl,
Unfortunately I'm not really sure where Detlev's site is. Can you give me a link?

Carl, thanks for the invite, but I'm not big on weapons. I'm a lover, not a fighter, unless it's fighting on my PC against some WW2 game!

Peppy, quite welcome and not a problem. The gunshow has several different areas of interest, read it in my Houston gunshow posting if interested........

Speaking on the topic of guns I picked up a mosin nagant over the weekend and I can't wait to take it to the range. So Carl, is there anything you are hoping on finding at the gunshow?
