Do anyone of you know how was the sniper sent to Stalingrad to kill Basili Zaitsev named?
I know he was director of Germany's snipers school and that he was an awesome sniper. He was killed like a dog by Zaitsev and other Soviet snipers.
But what was his name? I have that doubt.

Hello Friedrich, I think you refer to Maj. Koenigs and he was supposedly the commanding officer for the sniper school in Zossen.

I forgot to mention that the name to the top scoring German sniper in ww2 is Matthias Hetzenauer with 352 kills. Sepp Allerberger is the second top scoring German sniper 200++ kills and both are Knights Cross Recipients and both are still living--so is the 3rd top scoring German sniper--but I forget that gentlemans name unfortunately.

As far as I know--all three of the Wehrmachts top scoring snipers mainly served or only served on the Eastern Front.
Im going to write Sepp Allerberger as soon as things slow down a bit for me here. I will look on the internet and see what info I can find on them and post here if possible today.

Thank you, Carl.
Would you be willing to post a response on my article about the old officers in the Wehrmacht as I know you can do, because nobody has done it. They have just criticized me and not the generals...

Quite welcome and I will take a look and see what was said. I did make a poeting there today but it was just a posting stating that I agreed with Andreas about the russians as they were during the 1920's and 1930's.
