Guys if I may make a suggestion. In the forward it states to send $ 6.00 or whatever and it is best to send the local currentcy. You may want to dlete this as the Euro/DM when sent to these vet; their personal bank will charge them a fee for cashing the Ccheck. and for only sending $ 6.00 thee vets could pay easily double that, thus no returned letter. I have had three DM Cchekcs returned three years ago and now I only send US dollars as it is readily transferable.
Something to think about anyway.

I have always sent US dollars and have not had a single problem. Never once used DMs or Euros. The vets seem fine with $$$ since it is worth more there then their own currency anyway.

I too always send them US Dollars. The Dollar was worth 2.25 DM when I went to Germany. I have seen or heard of it fluctuate between 1.80 DM to 4 DM for $1.00.--depending on whats happening in our economies.
So far so good, I have never had any problems in sending Dollars. I send from $6-$25.00 to each vet depending on whether I need more than one photo--or a photo or photos and info. Ive never had any complaints from any of them.

Yep, I agree, no problems now. I always send $ 20.00 and maybe more if I am interested in a copy of the Luftie's flugbuch/ if this is copyable. No sense having to pay for a Ccheck or a Euro order and then turn around and send it to the vets where they will have to do the same......yuuuuuuuu kkk !

Thanks for the input gentlemen, what do you suggest I list as a currency and how much do you think I should say the rate should be?
I'm thinking I might increase it to $10 US funds, I think that is reasonable.
What do you guys think?
I'll change it as soon as there is a consensus between, Mr. Evans and Mr. Brown, let me know.

Otto :
I think $ 10.00 US is a good figure for a signed 5x7 photo and some simple details. I always add more since I usually ask about 15 to 20 questions and have had no problems with the Luftwaffe vets answering all questions even if they state they can't remember. In fact I have had 5 pilots return the 20.00 as they were most pleased that I thought so much of them.
US dollars are fine, maybe English pounds ? Don't want to see any hassle for the guys that are out of the US wanting to write some of these chaps.

Perhaps we can transfer all money in International Dollars.
Speaking of which, has anybody got even the foggiest idea what they might be? All UN statistics are in International Dollars and they are NOT the same as the US $.

Otto-Erich--$10.00 for a signed photo and maybe 3 questions asked sounds fair to me. If the Dollar is still at the rate it was with the DM when I went to Germany--then the vet will have around 25DM to have a decent Jagererschnitzel and Bier with. Or in the least Hackfliesch and Bier.
Damn--I REALLY do miss GERMANY. All except for no airconditioner in any establishment.
