Alec Campbell has left us. He was the last surviving ANZAC of the disastrous Gallipoli campaign. He was 103 years old.
With his passing, a great loss of Australian heritage has gone with him, he will be sorely missed.

Mr Campbell was so well liked because he didnt appreciate the attention afforded to him, and didnt like wearing his well-earned medals.

Mr Campbell has been granted a state funeral, and this service will be destined as a national period of mourning.

LEST WE FORGET-The great men of Alec Campbell's calibre.

Ryan--BELIEVE ME, he will not be forgotten. I ran accross the sad story yesterday. He was THE last of the original ANZACS and THE last known man to have fought at Gallipoli. I was hoping that you did hear about it somehow.

I know that in my memory-he will never be forgotten-as an Australian, it is practically my responsibility to honour his memory.

Yes, unfortunately Carl i heard the news the following morning, his passing is the worst news i have heard since September 11.
