Gentlemen, (and ladies?),

I need some help from some of the more experienced Forums member and some of the multilingual members as well. There are two areas I'd love some aid.

1) I'm compiling a little FAQ to help new members log-in, use avatars, and understand the abbreviations we all use here. Please post any acronyms or abbreviations that you may have seen here so no one is left in the dark. The regular ones are important, (ie. LOL & TY), but I'm looking for more of a WW2 base, (ie. AAR). Also please post any questions about the most confusing aspects of this board so I can elaborate if neccessary. This is what I have so far:

2) I'd need to know as many different ways to write the phrase "World War Two" in every language, including any accents, (I'm not going to say yet why I need this). Please don't write the number '2', (ie. World War 2 or World War II). I need to know how to write the entire phrase.

hmm the only acronym i can think of is "LOL" = Laugh Out Loud.
Maybe some of these FAQ's would be good?

Andreas......richtig ! I made a big mistake as I didn't include second world war in a sentance so I (P)......for pooped on myself.....sorry..should of dropped the n.

I've got a huge amount of Luftwaffe technical terms, Otto is this of interest ? some abbreviated some not. This may be to confusing though.

U --- Unterseeboot // check spelling ...... ?
E --- enemy boat
S --- Schnellboot, when all used befor boat in context.

UDT - Underwater Demolition Team (WW2 forerunner of today's Navy Seals)

LMF - Lack of Moral Fibre - Term used in RAF (and maybe other services) for individuals who couldn't take the strain and stress anymore of flying combat and were posted away due to 'LMF'...(note, off topic: This, in hindsight, seems rather cruel, if you know these people were demoted and given the shittiest of jobs. I know, different times,...but still. Does anybody know how the Americans dealt with cases like these and how it was looked upon? Mod.: Do move this post if you see the need...)

Wow, incredible response, and all very good contribution, thanks everyone.

Let me clarify a little more what I'm looking for. I'm going to use all of this information, but the acronyms I'm looking for are the ones that are forum specific. I think the Modus and Smoke have hit closest to what I'm looking for right now; forums specific acronyms. The other acronyms I'm going to compile a little later in another list alogether and file in the archives.

Now I just need more translation of 'World War Two'

Erich, the 'Der' isn't neccesary for what I'm going with this, I don't need to use any of these phrases in a sentence, I just need the name of the conflict. Thanks for covering both areas though. [img]smile.gif[/img] I would love to get my hands on that list of Luftwaffe technical terms you were talking about. After I'm make this "WW2 Forums Guide" I plan to compile a massive list of such term and abbreviations. Sort of a one-stop-shop for research purposes.
