Heres something I find VERY interesting.

Here in the USA, there used to be a childrens program called: Captain Kangaroo. I dont know if it was known overseas or not.

Anyway--the man who played "Captain Kangaroo" Bob Keeshan, was a USMC Sergeant and was on Iwo Jima. I think for his actions there--I think he should have also been awarde the Medal of Honor.

Well-known actor--Lee Marvin, had served with him on Iwo. Lee Marvin had stated that Bob was "the bravest man he ever knew."

I dont know details, but apparently Keeshan was involved in much heavy fighting on Iwo, and stood up under MG fire and knocked ut a few Japanese MG emplacements by himself--among other things.

Sorry Carl,

never saw the show, unfortunately. Huh-I suppose "Captain Kangaroo" never got any flashbacks during the show...That would have given the kids something to remember!

Hi Kai, and no problem--the show definately was for little kids. All my older brothers and sister, grew up watching him before I was even a thought.

He kinda lookes like Sergeant Schultz (from Hogans Heroes) in a red suit. I think another popular character was Mr Greenjeans--or either he was on another show.

I grew up with this show and do have fond memories of watching it every norning during the summer--when I was at my grandmother house. After that show--my grandmother and I watched: All In The Family and the Carol Burnett Show.
