Another picture for Erich to give thumbs up or not ( A bit dark picture unfortunately )
The aircraft depicted is the rarely painted FW 190 A5-U8 and was the personal aircraft of Fritz Setzer of 5/SKG 10.
The Fock-Wulf's of II/SKG 10 had been carrying out highly successful daylight attacks on the south coast of England since the Gruppe's formation in Mar. 1943. Their luck was to change however on their first nocturnal attack on 16/17 April. On this occasion, the combination of darkness, the intense flak barrage over London, opposition from nightfighters and an increased cockpit workload for the pilots all proved too much. Setzer's aircraft was one of three to make a forced landing at West Malling, a fourth crashed further south and another was lost over the Channel.
Signed by: Fritz Setzer.

Interesting Kai.
Attack by singular Fw 190's over England.....how suicidal ! All black undersides with upper part in dark grey, single fuselage code painted almost out from pics.....
Also the units, though the camo changed to some degree served heavily on the western front against forward British and US positions in 1945.
slow moving Ju 87D's along with Fw 190F's and G's did their best to disrupt communications and bomb rear MT plus road junctions and were prey to Mossie and P-61 intruders during that last year of the war.

Re: Bombing Britain 1943
Why would flak and night fighters be more effective then daylight flak and day time fighters?
