Hello Mike, and a very warm welcome to these Forums !

Hopefully, some of our other members may come up with something a little more special for you, but have you seen or read ' After The Battle ' No. 64 ?

This has a fairly detailed article on pages 13-40 , called ' The Battle Of Den Bosch ' by Karel Margry and certainly includes the units you have mentioned.

Mike you might like to try these
'Red Crown and Dragon' by Patrick Delaforce
'History of 53rd Welsh Division, 1919-54' by C N Barclay
I've read this first one and it is a very good read, aswell as the other titles by the same author. hope this helps.

G'day Mike

If you have a more defenite question about the Mons I could ask around here in Holland. And the rest of us will also do our best. You're on the right forum here.

Popski and the others thanks for the replies. Some background. I served with the Royal Regiment of Wales and am now Secretary of The RRW Comrades Association.

I am in the planning stage of a trip to Holland in October 2004 with some 40+ former members of 160 Wales Brigade, unfortunatley, none that actually served in S'Hertogenbosch in WW2, although my father-in-law now sadly passed away and another person I know still living fought with the 2nd Mons in that arena.

Unfortunatley, the person still living is quite ill and now as scant recollection of the names of places and the action that took place. It would be nice when we visit Den-Bosch to actually stand in the places were former comrades fought and know some of the history of the liberation.

G'day

Excellent Mike, having a battletour in Holland. I can't promise anything yet because 2004 will be a very busy year in Europe commemorating the liberation. I'll ask around if you can contact someone in 's Hertogenbosch for some local historian who can help you. I have a videotape from about 1975 with veterans in Den Bosch on the spot where they fought. I'll have a look again at it and see who is on the tape and what unit's they were in. I'll have to ask if there's any commitee to organise the liberationfestival to see if he can fit your group in.
I see what I can do.

Cheers Popski
