By the sounds of it the unit was not much good to anyone. It did nothing for the german propaganda machine and spent most its time in training. When it was finally sent into action against the soviets Felix Steiner considered it so bad that he apparently ordered that it not be sent into battle. It never grew to much over 30. most of those joined to get out of the camps. only a couple actual had any sympathy for the nazi cause.

Interesting but questionable. In my research, there were no British nationals given an officer's rank in the Waffen SS. They were never assigned to a panzer detachment. Not saying it is untrue but a detachment that small just does not fit in the organization heirarchy to be led by a captain. Even those British nationals that were assigned to D'Alquen's detachment were given the entry level rank and their their former NCO ranks. Interesting story though.
