Howdy All,
My youngest Daughter married a fella from Cardiff Wales last summer and my Wife and I will be visiting there in Sept. .
One of our first side trips will be to visit Normandy and I was wondering if anyone on this board has had the opportunity to visit the site of the D-Day invasion and if any artifacts from the invasion still exist?
I have an Uncle burried there but I'm not sure which cemetary so any help in researching this would also be much appreciated.
KRs,
Will T.

Check out Sommercourts website. This should be able to help. He is planning a trip to France next month to visit some battlefields, and i'm sure he can help.
Hope you like sheep

It deals with the European battlefileds of WW2 and military cemetries. I have done gone right into it yet, but i think it could help. You can get to his site through his profile.

I'll definitely second that, Oxbowcowboy.
You can't do better than to have a good browse through Sommecourt's website - it also has the very best links for the subject.

Hello Oxboycowboy,
As to visiting sites in Normandy I agree that Sommecourt's site is 'the way'. I am planning to go to Normandy in Sept. myself, so who knows, we might rum into eachother.
As to your uncle buried in Normandy; visit the American Battlefield Monuments Commission at http://www.usabmc.com/abmc4.htm click on WORLD WAR II LISTING. Type in your uncle's name and you'll find at which cemetery he is buried and in which plot and grave.

Thank's Fella's,
I'm headed for Sommecourt's website and Stevin if you see a tall slim fella with a black Resistall, Wranglers and Tony Lama Bull Riders on at Normandy that will be me.
If it's cool out I will be wearing a black jacket the says 'Montana Cattle Drives' on the back with a Steer Skull and 'Will' on the front, just walk up and say Howdy .
Thank's Again All,
Will

Hey cowboy ! Will you be taking pics please !! of Normandy, i can just imagine if Stevin and you were to hook up some way with a camcorder and filem the beaches and bunkers and take a few village strolls/monuments and then make a copy to send to Otto for the site. maybe a neat historical item for a die light for the sight. A then and now sort of thing, which would be very cool......well think aobut it if you have the time over there.
E have a good trip !!

Thanks for recommending my site guys. It is ever expanding, but contains all the basic stuff you need to think about a visit to Normandy, Ardennes and Arnhem.
As I live in France most of the time it is a little easier for me to get to these places, and I am always happy to assist with any queries on visiting the battlefields.
At your service, guys!
P.S. After my trip to Normandy in August I will be adding a load more info, so watch the site for further details. If Otto ever wants any pics or data - just let me know.
