Again with duffing up!!!
See at the latest airshow, an Italian C-130 Hercules came crashing down....luckily the crew escaped unscathed--it is kind of embarrassing when it mirrors their predesscors(sp.)form though!!!

That is a denigrating comment about the Italians. No offense intended. But accidents happen everywhere. And now, if you don't know Italy is very strong militaryly talking. The best attack helicopter is Italian and some of the best tanks are Italian too. Let's not mention a little pistol named Beretta...

If the Regia Aeronautica did not performed as it should have during WWII was because of stupid and corrupt officers (Liutenants to marshalls) who just did their jobs to earn money and have privileges, not to serve their country. Italian air-crafts were very good and it had really good aviators. You must remember about marshall Italo Balbo and his trip to Brazil in the 1920s and 1930s. They nearly won the Schneider cup, etc. The quality of its men and aeroplanes does not come to the issue.

Historically speaking, all you have to do is look at the US for a prime example of what Friedrich is talking about. Everytime you get cut backs in military spending, accidents occur more and more because of the shortages in parts and training. Nothing to do with the design of the aircraft. The pilots suffer because they no longer can training as much. Happens everywhere. And it seems to always happen with the Democrats.

Not to mention that the C-130 is getting OLD!!

We're all pushing for the Airbus, but even that isn't the right way, IMHO.

I was thinking the same thing-my posting came off more than a little harsh and degenerative.
It seemed funny at the time, but i regretted it afterwards-before i could prevent the comments against it!!!
