Hi Guys,
Thought you would appreciate me posting this from an Internet Cafe on Utah Beach in Normandy, at the spot where 4th Division came ashore.
In the middle of my Normandy visits and taking lots of photos for the web site - and amazed at the prices of 'Band of Brothers' gear fetches here... 38$ for a repro rubber Garand bayonet!
See you all when I'm back, meanwhile check out this cafes nice WW2 website:

Thanks guys; am back from Normandy. Two great weeks, with a lot of ground covered and many new places visited.
Highlight was the Falaise Pocket - the Polish Memorial was awesome; one of the best explained battlefield locations I have ever read and with an excellent bookshop!
I shall be writing it all up for the site shortly.

You won't be disappointed with the Falaise area Stevin - start at the museum in Falaise itself and then follow the Trun/Chambois road. Taking this route gives you a good appreciate of the ground. At St Lambert sur Dives you could follow the Corridor of Death, or go via the 'link-up' memorial in Chambois up on to Montormel to the Polish memorial site with its excellent visitors centre. They have quite a few books in English, and if you speak French, even more.
I hope to have some of my new Normandy pages on the web site this Sunday.

Just click on my homepage icon above, or go to:
http://battlefieldsww2.50megs.com/
There is already some material about Hill 112 on there; I only passed by it this year. In previous years I have walked it, found ammunition and mortar fins. The "Verdun of Normandy" the locals call it...

Why?
I would say you are missing a lot by not visiting WW2 battlefields if you are REALLY that intersted in WW2 history - it all makes a lot more sense once you have seen it.
Anyway, the French LOVE you Americans - it's us Brits that hate!!!!!

Ahh, la France ! Great countryside, great food, wine - totally wasted on the inhabitants !
No, that's not fair ! But, as Sommecourt says, if you're into military history - you gotta go there.....
