As is well-known, I am VERY good friends with several RKT vets--one especially--he was a Waffen SS-Unterscharfuhrer in SS Sturmbrigade Langemarck.
This man was a Flemish volunteer and started his career in the Waffen SS as a Kompanie runner. He quickly gained noteriety and much respect from his comrades and commanding officer--for his bravery.
This man was stationed on the Leningrad Front in Russia. During an action somewhere on the Eastern Front--this mans unit came under an intense Russian T-34, JS-1 Tank and Infantry attack.
Eventually--every man in his guncrew and gun battery and supporting infantry were either wounded and or killed. He disobeyed direct orders to abandon his position. This man was already wounded more than once.
He was alone at his position, when the Russians once again attacked with T-34s and Infantry which surrounded his position. This man did the job of 8 men on a guncrew. He was Ammo-bearer, Armoror, Loader, Aimer, Firer and Commander.
He operated his PAK by himself for 3 days. In the process he was also attacked by Russian Infantryman who were desperately trying to kill him. They failed.
In three days--this man went without sleep, food, medical care or help from his comrades. He knocked out no less than 17 T-34s and JS-1s, and killed no less than 100 Russian Infantrymen.
When he was being attacked by the infantry--this man would rush from position to position firing weapons left behind, and also trying to find ammo for these weapons. He used landmines--and handgrenades to help stop the attacking russian units. The russians even had tried to take him out by firing captured Panzerfausts and using their anti-tank rifles. In the end, this soldier prevailed.
At sometime during the third day that he was behind russian lines and encircled, some Waffen SS units from the "European SS" counterattacked and retook this position as well as much more. An SS Panzer Officer Paul-Albert Kausch himself, found this soldier still manning his PAK gun, very weak from loss of blood. He personally carried this man to be evacuated.
For this action--this man was awarded the coveted: Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. In other words, this mans throat had now "been cleared"
The man I am writing about is Herrn Remy Schrijnen.
What has happened is that this man is very ill and I would like to have as many volunteers as I can to please send me a signed get-well card and or just a letter--expressing their best wishes to him.
I would like to have them mailed to me--(unless you already have his address) and so that I can mail them all at once to him. He will greatly appreciate it.
If you want to contribute a letter or a card for me to this vet--please contact me by pvt message or if you have my emails address--by that and ill send you my address to send something to--providing you do not know his.
I will greatly appreciate it to get a few who will contribute.
Many thanks--Carl.
PS, im not asking for any money or gifts--unless you wish to send something, but im not asking. All im asking for is a card--a note or a letter.

Hello Erich--I got your hotmail email.
Its been too long since i last looked at the pics, but I do think there are more than two with Remy wearing his M-43 fieldcap or the dress version--I forget which.
When Susanne and I visited Remy--he had Joanna get his M-43 cap out of its hiding place. He let Susanne and I hold it--try it on and take pics of it. This is the same cap he wore on the Eastern Front and when he was in prison in Belgium.
One of these days ill see if I can did out the negatives and will make another copy of pics of his hat and of our visit at his haus. Many interesting things he has on display there--especially in his livingroom.
