May 8, 1945. Germany surrenders unconditionally and Europe is at peace.

Happy VE-day everyone! Woot!

Happy VE-day everyone!

And a piece of history:

VE-Day crowds encroaching on Winston Churchill's open car, in the City of London's Parliament Square today, did Irish Guardsman Ivor White (circled) a big favour when they pushed him on to the running-board of the slowly moving vehicle.
Ivor eagerly stretched out his hand towards Winnie, and shouted the Irish Guards famous battle-cry . . . "Up, The Micks".
Grasping the Guardsman's hand momentarily, Winston replied . . . "Well done The Micks"
and a few brief seconds of history were to remain in this soldier's memory for a lifetime.

Happy VE Day. May we never forget those that made the supreme sacriface in the name of freedom.

Happy VE Day.

I remember not long ago--or so it seems--that we were celebrating ONLY the 50th anniversary of D-Day. Come to thunk uv it--that was in 1994!!! How time flies.

Happy VE day to all!

Well, let's remember that we already had the remembrance of France's fall LX anniversary some three years ago! We already had the LXI anniversary of Pearl Harbour and 'Barbarossa' and the LXIII of 'Falweiß'! And Stalingrad's XL!

Time indeed flies!
