Cool

The former Nazi Yacht

“AVISO HELLA”

http://www.sunshinemaritime.co.uk/Angara.htm

Having come into service as headquarters vessel of the German submarine fleet commander, "HELA" was the peculiar government yacht of Germany.

On board the vessel there flew the flag of Hitlers' gross-admiral Karl Dönitz.

After the fall of Germany the yacht "HELA" was passed to the Soviet Union and on November 5, 1945 the yacht was included in the list of vessels of USSR Navy.

On December 25, 1945 the vessel was officially given to the soviet crew.

In December 1945 the vessel was transferred to the USSR in compliance with the decision taken by Commission which engaged in fleet division. In 20.01.1946 he navy flag of the USSR was hoisted and in 15.04.1946 the ship was confirmed the name “Angara”.

“Angara“ is presently located in Sevastopol, Ukraine.

PRICE: $1,500.000 USD

Maybe a bit high price for I bet it takes quite a lot to repair the ship...

The "Carin II" was acquired by the Egyptian-born Mostafa Karim and his American wife Sandra Simpson. Sadly, Karim had only little time to enjoy his historical yacht; he died of a heart attack shortly later. Carin moved to Hurghada / Egypt in 1988 where it had become one mysterious, abandoned fixture on the Red Sea coastline.

The old lady is in bad shape.

Cheers,
