Finally a weekend to honor the 16 million who served in the armed forces of the U.S. during World War II, the more than 400,000 who died, and the millions who supported the war effort from home and lost loved ones in the process.

I searched and didn’t find any posts or information regarding the new World War II memorial finally being built here in Washington D.C. The dedication of the memorial is long overdue but will be happening on May 29, 2004. During that weekend (May 27 – 30, 2004) the events for the World War II memorial also happen to fall on the same weekend as the Rolling Thunder “Ride to Freedom” remembering the POW/MIA of past wars. A weekend dedicated to reuniting, reflection, and re-education.

Information regarding the World War II Memorial and dedication ceremony can be found at http://www.ww2memorial.org/ For travel and accommodations go to http://www.ww2memorial.org/a.travel.shtml

Information regarding the Rolling Thunder “Ride to Freedom” can be found at http://www.rollingthunder1.com/rt-run-2004-info.htm

Angry

I had no idea the number was so few.
Really an awfull thing to think, that it took the government so long to erect a monument in honor of those that served in the War.

Gets me thinking about how i never got to know my Grandfathers brother who died in the war. But on the other hand makes me thankfull that i still have my Grandfather around.

at least Clinton was good for something (since i read that it was him that put the signature down to get this momument built)
