As some of you may know Im at uni in Wolverhampton, one of the bleakest cities in the UK. I am currently writing my masters thesis on British and German airborne troops of WW2. Imagine my surprise today when I recieved an email from an ex-fallschirmjager, who was captured in 1944 and believe it or not now lives in Wolverhampton...

The phrase holy crap springs to mind!

He wants someone to talk to about his wartime experiences and somebody told him about me!!!

At last lady luck smiles on me!

I will of course, if he is ok with it, share some of his recollections with you guys on the forum.

Red Baron, I think if you can post some of his stuff here, I think the Queen should award you an Order of the British Empire--or a George Cross, in the least. As for me, I award you a

That would be really great to hear about his life before, during , and after the war.

Some of the things I would like to know about is Crete, Belgium, the parachutes they used with no controls, was he taken to Russia after the war, the training program, his thoughts on when the war was over, his opinion of the Ju-52, and who his favorite commander was.

TA152 - I may well be able to answer some of those questions... I have a German Training manual and propaganda booklet that details alot. I do know he was a prisoner in the UK.

Top news Baron-quite hard to believe!
Excellent break though, please do try and get his recollections to the forum, I can only imagine they would be quite informative and interesting.

I am not too interested in what the training manual and propaganda booklet has to say on the subjects, I would like to hear what really went on from a real person like you got dropped into your life He will be a real gold mine of information if you treat him right.

If he is anything like our mate Sapper, then I think the information will be forthcoming as he approached you! I think the soldiers from the "other side" have heard so much oral accounts from the Allies that any effort to redress that balance would we welcomed by them. Thus the invitation by him

Baron, any chance you could do either (if he is amenable):

1) Invite him here on the forums.
2) If not (1) then would you field a list of questions from this forum (after you have asked yours of course)
