OK- here's a slightly different one.
Whether you're a serious researcher ( ) or a casual hobbyist ( like me ! ) you may well belong to a club, society or interest group.
Which ones have you joined ? Resarch group, re-enactment group, model society, veterans organisation....?
I'll start off with mine : -
Bomber Command Association ( Associate )
Mosquito Aircraft Museum ( helper )
Mosquito Aircrew Association ( Associate )
97 ( Straits Settlements ) Squadron Ass'n ( Associate )
Friends of Metheringham Airfield
Friends of East Kirkby Lancaster Association
Lincolnshire's Lancaster Association ( BBMF )
British Aviation Archaelogical Council
Friends of the Airborne Museum Hartenstein
Phew ! Certainly gives me some nice newsletters to read.....

These are ones I've joined in recent years,
but am not necessarily still a member of:
Fortress Study Group
British Aviation Archaeological Council
Scottish Military History Society
Stirling Field and Archaeological Society
WW2 Railway Studies Group
Still a member of these though:
UK Fortifications Club
Glasgow University History Society

Gordon

- Friends of the Airborne Museum Hartenstein
- 91st Bomb Group Assoc.
- 88th Infantry Division Assoc. (Not really a member but I still get their newsletter)
- Oorlogsgravenstichting (Dutch Wargrave Commission)
There are (quite) a few I want to join; Several wargrave commissions, unit assoc. and the odd research club...

The 352nd - aren't they the 'Blue-Nosed Bastards Of Bodney' ?
14 years ago ( ) I spent a happy morning exploring Bodney ; at that time the control tower group of buildings remained in good condition but word has it they are now in serious disrepair....

Martin :
Yes you are quite correct about the 352nd. had the pleasure of having a lenghty phone interview with one of the great aces of the group Don Bryan as we discussed his Ar 234 bounces, three of them, with one shot down confirmed.......

Just looked up Don Bryan in 'The Mighty Eighth' . There's also an interesting feature about the Ar 234 in this month's Aeroplane . Again, only one survives , at Dulles Airport.

Strictly O/T, 5-0, but I distinctly recall reading somewhere ( as usual I can't remember where ) that the story behind that famous photo was that Eisenhower said to the tough-looking guy, 'Where are you from, son ?' ( which was his stock question in that sort of situation ). When the paratrooper replied, Ike said 'Good fishing, there'....
Well, it makes a nice story, anyhow !
