Kai if at all possible please go see them ! Not sure if they will be using a translator but Peter speaks excellent English. He also flys single engine props to this day. Klaus flew on the Ost front and is also a DK winner and ace, with NJG 100, I need to write this guy but not sure if he speaks English...........doesn't matter. He is quite active in one of the many Bayern experimental a/c clubs.
If you go Kai would you please give Peter my very best; it would be worth your time and efforts if you can visit with them and listen to their incredible stories.

Thanx Guys!
IŽll do my very best and I just put that weekend reserved for that very happening so now fingers crossed they can make it here!!
It seems the association invites foreign veteran pilots to give lectures every year. In 2004 it was Wing Commander Robert "Bob" Foster.
http://www.virtualpilots.fi/en/featu...bobfoster2004/
I guess I should be joining this lot...

This is a reminder for you to set your alarm-clock, Kai !
Herr Spoden is preparing for his Finnish visit and I believe has a most interesting lecture to deliver in his own special style....

The current issue of the 'Bomber Command Association Newsletter' just arrived here and it contains an article by Peter Spoden.
The BCA Newsletter is a very prestigious publication and it's a nice gesture of reconciliation to see the Nachtjaeger point-of-view included at this time.

The article is actually written by Peter and is a very condensed version of 'Enemy In The Dark' , plus some further reflections on the Strategic Bombing Campaign. It is largely based on the lecture which he is due to give in Helsinki.

Kai if they allow question(s) during this special time....
for Klaus Scheer :
Klaus scored 2 victories on Janaury 15/16, 1945.
what were they ? and did he use his forward 2cm weapons or Schrage Musik.
also was he flying a Ju 88G-6 and the codes if he remembers. These sound like simple questions but may not be. It has been many years gone by ......
thanks my friend !

Yes,
just back from my work the "dull period" and indeed on Sunday saw the "boys" in full flight as they told us the Finns what it was like in WW2 to be a night fighter.
The whole session lasted some 2 and a half hours and I donŽt think either gentleman even got very tired....I think they could have continued all through the night if we would have been allowed.
There was some 100 listeners over there which I think was quite a remarkable achievement. There were also several Finnish pilots there and it seems the veterans truly enjoyed their time together.
Afterwards there was a huge queue for a signature from both gentlemen. You definitely thought that there were movie stars present there!
I managed to give greetings from you Erich and Peter remebered you...( were you afraid he would not?? )
Ok. Several shots of both the guys as well as together ( the usual pilot stuff hands in every possible direction ) and even a couple of short films on my camera. IŽll check if I could get a copy of the memory card and send it to you Erich but IŽll be back on this ( on PM later on ).
Both agreed on
1. The JU 88 was the best plane
2. Schräge Musik was the best weapon
3. Mosquito was their worst enemy
I also intended to ask more but then I thought that it was better to let other people ask as well or they will throw me out of the building soon..

Glad it was worth the time going friend ! Ya know I thought Peter would of course remember me but he gets a truck load of mail.
can't wait to see the pics and whatever else little tidbits you have. have the private mail and thank you for the information Kai. Wish personally I could get some 25 nf vets together with about 500 in the audience for a 4-5 day pillage of information. Several such as the two that presented would be a wealth of documentation. Throw in another 20-25 ex RAF heavy bomber vets and .......... whoa ! Well Martin can host the RAF boyz at his home....
ok fantasy over.....sniff
