Stalin's Hitler book to be published
Publisher says Stalin commissioned the book because he wanted to understand Hitler's psyche, make certain the Nazi dictator was dead

Stalin's "Hitler Book" was presented to the Soviet dictator in December 1949, in a limited edition of one, and was put in his personal archive before being discovered by German historian Matthias Uhl in 2004.
A second copy of the biography was made in 1965 and placed in a separate archive, which was used as corroborating evidence that the first book was authentic," a spokeswoman for publisher John Murray said.
A statement said the book would be published by Lubbe in Germany in March with its UK publication due in November 2005.
The biography was based on two years of interrogation in Moscow with two of Hitler's close associates - his butler Heinz Linge and SS adjutant Otto Guensche.

It was always assumed Hitler was involved in the Holocaust planning despite a lack of corresponding documents," Uhl told Reuters after the publication his 672-page "Das Buch Hitler" (The Hitler Book) based on a 413-page original for Stalin.
"This shows for the first time that Hitler was intimately involved," he added.
"Hitler told Himmler to use more trucks with mobile gas chambers so that munition needed for the troops wouldn't be wasted on shooting Russian [prisoners]," the book reads.
Uhl said Hitler's relationship with Eva Braun, for example, was closer than thought, especially after Germany's defeat at Stalingrad. He called her at least every second day after that.
