Due to the high winds at the recent Duxford VE-Day airshow, I missed out on seeing the BBMF Lancaster....

Luckily, someone on another forum tipped me that the Lanc' was due to make a private flypast today at the RAF Museum veterans' meeting.

I managed to make work commitments fit ( ), the weather was perfect, and as scheduled at 14:40 on the dot the Lancaster roared overhead at Hendon for three low flypasts and final pass overhead.

What a sight and sound !

Never fails to stir the emotions......

You lucky.....

Well....June 17th wasn't it!? Better hope that the weather don't play up then.

Still waiting for that Typhoon reenactment BTW....

My next date with the Lanc' is due at RAF Hunsdon on May 22nd for the Mosquito Memorial unveiling. Hopefully the weather will be as good as it was today......

I have so many photos of PA474 that I just took a couple of general views as the aircraft approached the Museum.

It was a great one for the memory-bank.....

Don“t know if it could be possible ever but with lots of money everything is usually possible
( don“t have it that“s the problem )...

Just thought that it would be "interesting" just to feel the flying mission from the UK to Berlin and back, with the gear they used back then. And Erich waiting there with a Bf 110 (?) somewhere...

Say Martin, I was reading in one of my magizanes awhile back of a group trying to put a Vulcan back in the air. Do you know of the progress they are making ?
KP's post about lots of money made me think of the project. Should take a boat load of cash just to put fuel in the tanks. The Vulcan is one of the best looking aircraft ever built.

That's right, Ta - it's the Vulcan XH558 team who have been fundraising in a big way for this project. They need £millions - and have just been dealt a body-blow by the wonderful people at the 'European Community' HQ.

New insurance regulations have just come into effect based on aircraft size. This has grounded B-17 'Sally B' ( the only flying B-17 in Europe ) which now costs the same to insure for an airshow display as a fully-loaded commercial Boeing 737 in daily use.

This regulation has come in just in time to 'celebrate' VE Day......

It's widely viewed as an insult to the veterans who fought to 'free' Europe. Under these regs, the Vulcun would need £zillions just to lift off the ground.

Amazing actually that we have people like Abrahamovich etc putting trillions of money in football ( I am myself a Premier League fan BTW ) but nobody wants to put money in these flying beauties...

That is real sad to hear Martin. Perhaps they can move the project to South Africa. I know there you can buy rides on Hunters, Lightings, and other fighters of you have deep pockets.
Thanks for the information.
