Cool

Looted by the nazis? How did it end up in the British Museum then??? Title makes you think the nazis never returned it...

Nazis also looted a lot from The Netherlands, took it to Germany, only to be "liberated" by the Russians.... The Netherlands is trying for decades to get the stuff back. I believe last year or in 2003 we finally got the first paintings and drawings. Then again, the Dutch state hasn't exactly been quick in returning their own 'collection' of looted art to the families of the previous owners. Seems that art is a very desirable war booty. Talking about booty; I love the stories of what the Allies beqeethed themselves while libertaing Europe and tried to get home. Some stories are funny, others sad.

Exactly right, Stevin-there's a LOT more to that story than meets the eye!
