We've said it here before : the terrible thing is that this kind of revolting incident is so common that one just feels thoroughly depressed as well as deeply angry ....

How do you deal with people like this?
Some punk looking for a way to turn some quick drug money slips into someone's home and strips them of treasured posessions. They have no conscience, no morals.
What happens to them when and if they are apprehended? Too little, too late, is my guess, if the British justice system is anything like the United State's. Breaking and entering, plea bargained down to something else, probation or a minimal sentance they don't even have to serve in it's entirety. At least here in Texas if they were caught by the homeowner in the act the homeowner could lawfully administer a few hundred grains of not-in-my-house-you-piece-of-sh**.
I saw a cartoon one day. It was a criminal before the king being sentanced to death. When asked if the criminal had any last words they said "Capital punishment does not deter crime". The king's reply was, "Well, I won't be seeing YOU in my courtroom again".
Sorry for the rant. Hate criminals. Hate limp wristed advocates that blame anything else for their behavior. Hate seeing people victimized by filth on parole that should still be locked up from their previous crimes.

Well said Bigiceman!! I can guess what your bloodpressure was in the mid 1980's was when judge William Wayne Justice and the prison system was busy letting thousands out of the Texas prison system due to "inhumane conditions".
I hope that idiot is a crime victim some day by one of the scum he released early.

A friend of mine contacted the reporter of this story as a few of us wanted to chip in and buy this old fella some more medals, but apparently the MOD are going to replace 6 of the 8 medals stolen, the other 2 are anniversary medals and not easy to replace but my friend is working on it.
Atleast some good news
Andy

Good initiative H&J! Glad to hear that you guys took action on that. I am glad the man gets his medals replaced.....
Was at the Hartenstein museum this weekend (had a lovely cup of coffee at schhoonoord cafe ) and saw all the medals donated to the museum.....Amazing stuff.
What struck me was a small depression just behind the Bilderberg hotel. There was a marker stating the ferocious fight of a small group of airborne against German tanks and flamethrowers, before they broke through the lines and helped the defense at Oosterbeek. I couldn't get my head around what must have happened at those 10 square meters 61 years ago.....Also had a little chat with a guy whose stepfather was with Frost at the bridge.
The most sorry sigt was the destruction of the Tafelberg hotel. This was a dressing staion during the battle and they are now building appartments on the site. The whole hotel is gone except the front facade, the entrance...one wall remains standing. I took a pic. WIll place it here later.

I know what you mean Stevin, ive had similar feelings walking on other battlegrounds, walking along Omaha and seeing families playing and thinking back to what it must have been like in 44.
Be intersting to see it now mate
Andy

Only the front wall is still standing. I think they will use it as the entrance to the complex, althought I won't be surprised if they tore it down compeletely. I took another shot fro manother angle, whe you could see that itw as the only wall standing, but that didn't come out.
