For the AMericans among us;
Charlie Curly, officer with the 2nd Inf Div during WW2, will be at Ollie North's show on Fox next sunday, September 18th (I don't know the time) they will discuss the battle for Hill 192 in Normandy.
Charley wrote a self published book How a Ninety Day Wonder Survived the War which stands proudly on my book shelf. A recommended read! Please check your local guides as to the precise times of the show. I think it is the Fox News SHow, I don't know. It is hosted by Ollie North. That should tell most of you enough. I myself won't be able to watch it but look forward to any reviews of those of you who hopefully will see it.
Regards,
Stevin

I have not had the best opinion of Mr. North. What do you forum members think of him?

Bigice, are you referring to Iran-Contra, his military service, his books, or his program?

I would have to say the culmination of his service to his country, the Iran-Contra affair. No matter his service prior, this crowning event was more like a dunce's cap in my view. It either made him a patriot who was willing to subvert his country for his government, or an overzealous suck-up who was so anxious to accomplish something his superiors (Reagan?) wanted that he was willing to do anything.

He was the fall guy for higher ups.
President Truman had a sign in his office that said "The buck stops here"
President Reagan had one that said "The buck's in Ollie North's office"

Sorry, the picture of Oliver in the cover of Time magazine saying " I was authorized to do everything I did" would not want to show itself here...

Well, wasn´t he, even if not for the public knowledge?
Faced with undeniable evidence of his involvement in the scandal, Reagan expressed regret regarding the situation on national television. In his speech, Reagan stated that he believed what he did was right, and understood how the American people might not think the same way. Nevertheless, Reagan survived the scandal, and would see his approval ratings return to previous levels.

A little off track here:
Speaking of Time Magazine, I found their archive where you could view all their cover designs - past and present. http://www.time.com/time/archive/ Pretty neat, give it a look.
