Scotland's Bletchley Park threatened
This seems to be a case of "you'll-get-'progress'-and-bloody-well-like-it!". When I was in the Pas de Calais last summer, the area I stayed in had 13 wind turbines on two surrounding ridges a few miles apart. They were a complete blight on the landscape, and at night all you could see were the air navigation lights on top of them.
Every farm/house in the area was covered in protest banners, and I don't suppose Forfar will be any different.

I support the need to salvage the archeological important site. I think that the use of wind turbines would be one of the least impactive to the site.

The flip side, and I see this being in the power generation industry, is that you have to give up something. The consumers must either use less power or they have to be ready to allow the construction of power production facilities. If the power plants cannot be built in anybodies back yard then you better be ready to have the lights turned off.

That's a fair comment, Ice. The archaeologist in me wants to know exactly what makes Montreathmont such a prize site though.
I remember Denmark killing off its wind-farm project a couple of years back because after almost a decade of operation, it was still only producing a small percentage of the country's electricity at double the price of conventional generation. No-one here seems to want to know that though.
I mean, Britain's an island-what happened to wave-generated power? Scotland is covered in mountains, but we've only got ONE hydro-electric station (that I can think of). I don't think England and Wales are much better off.
I'm not against progress, I just need to be convinced that it's always the positive answer.

Fair comments as well Gordon.

Anything we do to produce power needs to be well thought out so we get a good return on our investment.

There has to be progress but it does not have to be a scorched earth progress. There is always room for some preservation in any progress.
