Very cool. I had no idea that they had that project in the works. It is good to see the restoration of something so beautiful and historic instead of a car park going up.

Saw some footage on this later last night and actually alot of donations came from Abroad!

Of the total cost of $218 million, about $121 million came in private donations.

Of all the contributions, none seem as appropriate as a gold orb and cross, given by Britain, which now sits atop the dome. Alan Smith, the London goldsmith who fashioned them, has a personal tie to the city: his father was a member of the British bomber squadron on the night of the Feb. 13, 1945, raids.

Speaking of donations from abroad. Shortly after I got back from my trip to Germany in 2000, and about the time I first found this site, I had made a dontaion to them using my last paper DM that I had. I think what I sent at that time would have been equivillent to about $75.00.

uk isn't there a small vertical portion around one of the windows in original brick -dark colour still left instead of the spotty use of the orginals in your photo ? I remember a friend going through the RAF bombing and then right after that at first light she left butt-quick right out heading westward. From here I had received word and of course all the paraphenalia of letters for well wishes and in support of the "ladys church" through the building program, of course you were able to see inside the magnificent rebuilding of the choir and organ I bet
