The info about Oskar Boesch is most interesting...My appreciation of the sacrifices on both sides has increased over the last couple of years as I have read more Luftwaffe material such as 'Graf & Grislawski' & Bergstrom's 'Luftwaffe Fighter Aces' books. I used to have the impression that the 8th AF were rather easy meat for the Luftwaffe, but this obviously was not so. To fly into the B-17 formations was not something for the faint-hearted ; those daylight skies over NW Europe were bloody indeed.
Erich, yes - I was last at Bodney 18 months ago ( sadly, before I had a digital camera ) and the Control Tower was looking decidedly time-worn. Hopefully I can get back up there again before all is lost.....
